English Textbook Challenge in Jordan: An In-Depth Analysis

چکیده
Published textbooks are widely used as a main source for learning English language in countries like Jordan. The Jordanian learners often complain about the difficulty of using which changed every few years. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate effectiveness textbooks, identify potential problems, go beneath authors’ claims and their attractive designs, provide insights textbook analysis process. researchers analyzed content in-depth method. A criterion-based checklist was analyze sample published “Action Pack 12”, chosen Unit 6. revealed significant findings role “respond” rather than “initiate”, most expected production based on word and/or sentence level. Moreover, teacher providing useful, relevant input not emphasized textbooks. Furthermore, guides writers publishers how involve useful materials, such extended discourse, interactive linguistic activities, interesting activities creative thinking critical skills enhance quality learning.
